Calling Process for Congregations

Are you a congregation seeking to call a pastor? Follow the steps below, and we will be happy to walk alongside your call team through the process.

    1. Call Committee lead contacts Director of Operations Paul Tjelta via phone at (218)739-3336 or fill out the online form (see below) and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.

    2. Call Committee fills out the Church Questionnaire that can be downloaded below.

    3. Once the Church Questionnaire has been received, the Director of Operations will contact the Call Committee lead to confirm this and ask any follow-up questions.

    1. Call Committee creates and refines the calling assignment/job description

    2. Call Committee creates and refines the financial package

    3. CLB Leadership will review the completed church questionnaire

    4. CLB Leadership will provide names of potential candidates

    5. Call Committee identifies potential candidates

    6. Call Committee contacts potential candidates and has initial conversations 

    7. Call Committee interviews their top candidate

    *We highly recommend taking only one candidate at a time through the interview process.

Open to Call Instructions for Pastors

Are you a minister of the gospel in the Church of the Lutheran Brethren and open to call? Follow the steps below and we'll be happy to guide you through the process. Below is a list of churches currently seeking a pastor.

    1. The candidate contacts Director of Operations Paul Tjelta via phone at (218)739-3336 or fill out the online form (see below) and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.

    2. The candidate fills out the Pastor Questionnaire that can be downloaded below.

    3. Once the Pastor Questionnaire has been received, the Director of Operations will contact the candidate to confirm this and ask any follow-up questions.

    1. CLB Leadership will review the completed pastor questionnaire

    2. CLB Leadership will review available openings

    3. CLB Leadership will pass along the candidate's questionnaire to churches for consideration

    4. Churches will contact candidates as they desire to follow up with them
