Youth Worker Training at the 2022 Biennial Convention

Hi everyone,

We are thrilled to announce our plans for the 2022 Youth Worker Training that will happen at the Biennial Convention on Saturday June 11, 2022. We were not able to offer this in 2020 but we are thrilled that we can in 2022.

We are bringing in Jonathan McKee who will get to speak to two topics related to teens and technology. In addition, youth workers will have an opportunity to network, to hear about additional opportunities that are available to them and to get a preview of YC22.

There is no cost to attend, but we do ask that you RSVP on Facebook at www.facebook.com/events/898695394014579 or send Mark Johannesen an email at [email protected] so we can plan accordingly for food.

Here is our Tentative Schedule:

Morning workshop – Helping Teens Become Smarter Than Their Smartphone – The WHO, WHAT, WHEN, and WHY of wise posting in an insecure world. In a world where 89% of teenagers have a smartphone and 97% have access to social media, how can we help young people think before they post? In this workshop we’ll talk about four conversations we need to have with today’s teens and tweens:

  1. The friends you’re friending
  2. The pics you’re posting
  3. The screen time you’re absorbing
  4. The affirmation you’re seeking

Youth Worker Lunch

We will use this time to network, to hear about our youth convention, and a number of other significant opportunities.

Afternoon workshop – Connecting with Overconnected Kids

Every expert agrees that the one element that actually makes a positive impact in the lives of young people today is a positive adult mentor; in fact many actually connect ministry effectiveness to your adult to student ratio. Are you connecting mentors with young people in your ministry? What does this actually look like?

Post Dinner Gathering

Following our afternoon session, we offer an informal Q/A time with Jonathan over dinner.
