Announcement

Please pray for the congregation at Liberty Lutheran Brethren Church. The following is the press release from the congregation.

July 19, 2011 is a day the Liberty family will remember. Fire damaged our place of worship but served to ignite our spirits. Since then we have been blessed in so many ways. First, we praise God that no one was injured. Our hearts are thankful for the individuals who spotted the smoke and acted on what they saw. Such action demonstrates the values of our community. We deeply appreciate the firefighters and how their efforts minimized property damage. We are encouraged by many offers of support and assistance.

We have been able to hold our midweek Bible Study. Worship will be held at our site at 9:30 am on Sunday.

Relief Efforts

flood relief

Our Redeemer's Church and Christian School are asking for prayer and support in relief efforts in Minot, North Dakota, where a historic flood has left thousands of people feeling lost and helpless due to loss of homes and businesses.

Please also remember Faith Lutheran Church in Estevan, Saskatchewan as they reach out to their community affected by flooding as well. More information on the Estevan area will be coming soon.

The following is information from the Mission:Minot website that the church has set up to connect them with those who want to help.

Financial Support

Financial Support – As you can imagine, many in our congregation have tremendous financial needs. The recovery process is going to be long and expensive. Any money that you are able to contribute will be used to help our families get back on their feet and back in their homes. All decisions about the distribution of these funds will be made by our pastoral team and leaders. Please make any checks payable to Our Redeemer’s Church, and write “Flood Relief” in the memo.

Work Crews

Work crews – In the  next several weeks we will be in need of crews to come and assist with the demolition phase. Please consider assembling teams of both skilled and unskilled workers. More information and specifics will be available in the next few days.  Also, we will have the need in the coming months for skilled carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and others, to come and assist with the remodeling phase. (Please note that some skilled trades may require local certification.)

Experienced Counselors

We have an immediate need for people trained and experienced in grief and crisis counseling. The next several weeks will be the most difficult for many of our people as they are able to enter their homes and are faced with the reality of a damaged or destroyed home, financial stress, long-term displacement, and much more. We are in need of Christian people who can come along side our pastoral staff in this area. If you know of someone who may be able to help in this area, please let us know.
