Synodical Council

The Synodical Council has general supervisory authority over the work of the synod and its workers.

• It is directly accountable to the Annual Convention.
• It reviews, analyzes, and makes recommendations on issues prior to presentation at the Annual Meeting.
• It determines the place, program and agenda for the Annual Meeting.
• It prepares an annual report, an annual ministry plan, and a budget for the Annual Convention.
• It arranges for the ordination of candidates approved by the Ordination/Colloquy Committee composed of the following:
  • the synodical president, the synodical vice-president, the synodical secretary, the representatives designated to the synodical council by the following boards: Board of Home Missions, Board of World Missions, Board of Church Services, Board of Education, the Board of Youth Ministries and one member designated from its membership by the faculty of the Lutheran Brethren Seminary.
  • Membership on the Ordination/Colloquy Committee shall be limited to ordained pastors and elders.
    1. to examine candidates for ordination and for recognition of ordination from another church body, and to recommend action to the Synodical Council.
    2. to deal with disciplinary action when ordained clergymen have violated their ordination vows.
• The Synodical Council shall be the final court of appeal on any personnel matter.
